Alexander Millar - The Cathedral Of The Working Man

Alexander Millar - The Cathedral Of The Working Man - 'Recently I had the pleasure of chatting with a collector of my work, Raymond, who lives in London. He asked me since most of my paintings are of northern scenes whether I might consider painting a view of the capital city. Raymond was born within a stone's throw from Battersea Power Station. He kindly mailed me some old photos, which really inspired me. Once again I attempted to play with light within the scene and tried to capture that magical moment just before a heavy rain shower when the sunlight is at its strongest shining on the Thames. I was later told that the power station was referred to as The Cathedral Of The Working Man.'
